Into the Woods in Birmingham

For my design feature in Alabama Weddings 2022, The Wanderlust Issue, I wanted to bring the finer details of a Southern wedding deep into a forest setting for a dreamy visual that spoke to the concept of wanderlust. My creative team brought all their talents to the great outdoors for a styled shoot full of bridal inspiration with a few nods to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which would hint at our 2023 issue, Storytellers. I’m also proud to have an image from this shoot grace the Sept/Oct cover of AW, on newsstands now, with all the fall feels. As I share this feature, I’m also preparing my 2023 styled shoot and have dreamed up more beauty with another fantastic team. Stay tuned for the story to unfold this January.

Love Blooming in The Garden Room

This romantic, intimate wedding in Atlanta was an absolute treat to design. Having a prestigious and gorgeous venue such as The Garden Room for the evening is not an everyday occurrence after all. The beauty of this top-notch restaurant doesn’t require an overzealous hand, so I instead let the incredibly talented Ginny Early of Enemies of the Average create floral accents that enhanced the feel of the room without overpowering its enchanting décor. The trick of this party was to determine the best use of space to house ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all within the restaurant without leaving the room. As an event designer, I always start with the flow of the space for the optimal guest experience.

With all the best team players, a bridal party dressed to the nines, and wonderful clients with fabulous taste, this Southern wedding was an evening I relive in my head whenever I hear the sounds of Pink Martini.

Gilded Glamour in the District

For a truly fabulous wedding design in Washington, D.C., I was overjoyed to work with my oh-so-talented friend, Holly Chapple, and her floral design team. The abundant florals and posh place settings from Maison de Carine elevated the tablescapes and brought some of my D.C. area faves on board for such a special event. The most striking element though had to be the sleek, high-gloss black and gold dancefloor for a great modern juxtaposition in this historical Mellon Auditorium.

Style Under the Sailcloth in Savannah

As the rain cleared across Savannah, a rainbow appeared just as the ceremony was set to begin behind this private home full of Southern charm and fabulous style. This intimate wedding represents proper hospitality from start to finish, all with moments that complete an elevated event design. Candlelit dinner under the sailcloth tent gave way to a beautiful firework display on the water before guests boarded the trolley back to their hotel for the after party. My personal favorite detail from the entire day is the crystal knife rests at each place setting. Trés chic! As a wedding planner with an editorial eye, I must also commend the fashion for this family, particularly the mixed bridesmaid dresses within the color story.

Garden Romance in Birmingham

“I like to refer to Christopher as the ‘wedding whisperer.’ He took the time to get to know me and my husband, and his main goal in designing our big day was to really capture our personalities and style in every little detail. And WOW, he did just that and so much more! Everything about my wedding was perfect, and I owe it all to him. His ability to create something so special and unique is incredible. And I can honestly say that I consider him a true friend after all of our months planning together. You will not regret putting your big event in his hands!” Bride, Sara

Intimate Wedding in Miami

Every single detail of this wedding was absolute perfection. We are so thankful for clients who trust us to create beautiful experiences. We scouted all across the country for the perfect setting and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens took top billing. Forty of their closest family and friends joined them for an intimate ceremony and dinner with Biscayne Bay as a perfect backdrop.

Sofreh Aghd in Atlanta

Sara and Anthony’s rooftop wedding at the Peachtree Club produced some of my favorite wedding images by The Scobeys, all with sweeping views of the Atlanta skyline. Working with the bride and groom to produce the perfect sofreh aghd, the centerpiece of a traditional Persian wedding, continues to be something I remember because I love getting to understand different couples’ beliefs and traditions and bring them to life. It’s the beauty of telling love stories of all kinds that makes me fall in love with what I do over and over.

Southern Sophisticate at Pursell Farms

I absolutely love the opportunity to design a styled shoot with a full team of creatives. It is our opportunity to create something inspirational, rather than practical. For this shoot for Alabama Weddings at Pursell Farms in 2018, I wanted to present an elevated sense of Southern refinement that would pair well with the stateliness of the venue. As I do with all my clients, I had my hand on every element, from selecting a simple, classic gown at Carriage House to creating a beautifully layered table design with my fab friend and interior designer Matthew Bees and down to the custom coup drink tags that harken back to the invitations by Paperhaus.

Every event, wedding, or soiree I host at home is about telling a story from start to finish. I’m a wedding planner by trade, but a storyteller at heart. As my next chapter unfolds with me now in the Editor-in-Chief role at Alabama Weddings, I’m especially looking forward to telling more stories and creating more inspiration with Alabama’s top wedding photographers, venues, designers, and everything in between. Go out and get a copy of Alabama Weddings on a newsstand near you or check out my first issue as publisher and EIC here!
